Reviews of Fancies of a Random Heart:

“Annie B. & the Vagabond Company have an impressive debut with Fancies Of A Random Heart.  Best described as pop with an attitude, this album gets considerable airplay in their home market of Milwaukee.  But this isn’t some pop-tart band.  Annie B. & the Vagabond Co. bring a slightly punky edge to these original pop songs.  Annie B., as the focal point, is an energizing presence with a voice that can crack a sidewalk or melt your heart.” – Bruce Winter, WUWM

“I confess, after receiving a copy of Annie B. and the Vagabond Company’s latest CD – “Fancies of a Random Heart” – I have listened to it again and again.  As lead vocalist, Annie B. expertly fronts a band with a tight, hard rocking sound.  With every track, I am reminded of a band that perfected its unique style and sound working the clubs and festivals.  Annie B. and the Vagabond Company EXPLODE in front of a crowd.  ABVC managed to capture that  same energy and sound on their studio CD.  “Fancies…” is also a great showcase for Annie B’s powerful, edgy and yet endearing vocal style.” – Dan Laske, Southeast Wisconsin Arts Guild (SWAG)

Here’s a little commentary from Michael McGinley, WAMI President:
“Part of the wonderment of the Milwaukee Music Scene is how it continues to feature a robust talent pool that resists what seems to occur elsewhere — which is the rubbing off of resident styles on one another to a degree that the place is emblematic of a sound and vice-versa. Milwaukee has always been the kind of place where we see few reasons to be like anybody else including those closest to us. Today, amongst another generation of close-knit artists in our City is one, Annie B. who exemplifies the bandwidth of our artists and fans. She is doing it her way, and we are buying into her clever pop-hooks, deconstructed and made raw with what seems nearly a sense of disdain for the process of making music itself, and her lyrics that give us a delicious feeling of accidentally peeking into our best friend’s diary.”

The Shepherd Express has this to say about Annie B & Fancies of a Random Heart:
Annie B.‘s unbridled exuberance marks a clarion new voice in Milwaukee rock. Cam DeWinter’s incisive guitar and a kicking rhythm section seal the deal, from the caffeine jolt of “Coffee Beans” to the retro-strut of Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’.”

Up Close & Personal (artist interview) by Jodie Niles:

Performing for ArtMilwaukee’s “Arabian Night” after party on Thursday, June 2nd is Milwaukee native singer/songwriter Annie B. with her band, The Vagabond Company. The band features Annie B. on Lead Vocals, Dave Johnson on Drums, “Hollywood Fred” on Bass and Cam DeWinter on Lead Guitar. Though Annie’s been around for a while, the band didn’t officially have their first gig together until February of this year, and it didn’t take long for them to find their groove…  [Please enjoy the entire article here.]

“I had the pleasure of viewing the Annie B & The Vagabond Company’s performance at the 2011 SRIM Festival held annually at The Brat Stop. Despite 40 bands performing over 2 nights the ABVC really stood out. Their sound was superb and by the time they were finished I was left wanting more. Highly recommended to those in need of an original, high energy rock sound, that puts on a great show as well!”

GM and Entertainment Organizer
The Brat Stop

“Midwestern lamenting and personal conviction are conveyed in this passionate collection of Annie B’s original compositions.  These bare-boned songs expose the root of genuine storytelling.  Life, love, and existence.  (Lucky!) Thirteen sincere acoustic compositions.  Highly Recommended!!”
