Chase Her

CHASE HER

One afternoon, not long ago

I went to my favorite place to go

I listened to the next table

I felt so sad for those people

‘Cuz she cried, but he could not hear

He wasn’t listening close enough

And she said she needed something

She needed more time to discern

And he said she’s being selfish

She did not give him the right words

And she got up, and she walked out

He did not chase her

He did not chase her, he did not chase her

He didn’t get up and go after her

He did not chase her, he did not chase her

He just let her go

I sat and wondered what to do

I wanted to say a word or two

But I felt it was not my place

So I just let it go

And I sipped on my coffee

And I nibbled on my toast

But I felt not so hungry anymore after what I saw

And I thought I should say something

As I trembled to my soul

Then he left in the opposite direction

He did not chase her, he did not chase her

You could just tell he did not go

To get up and chase her, he did not chase her

He just let her go

And so I opened up my book

But I could not concentrate

He did not chase her, he did not chase her

He just let her go

So where did he go

And where the fuck did she go

Well, we’ll never know

I cannot read now, I cannot eat now

I should get off my ass and go

To get up and chase her cuz he did not chase her

He just let her go
